Oh Look, a Liberal

December 23, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

It’s not often you see an elected Democrat promoting actual liberalism, so it’s worth noting when one does:

“It provided some much-needed help to residents who were struggling to make ends meet, and it helped clean up our neighborhoods,” said [Memphis City Councilman* Harold] Collins. “Those are things government can do if it is done right.”

[Commercial Appeal]

It’s pretty sad that this even needs to be pointed out.

*Thanks to LWC for catching my brain fart.

Two quick points: Collins is actually not a Commissioner, but a City Councilor, which makes him technically non-partisan.

I know, I want Democrats to promote liberalism too, too bad only a few of them have the actual spine to do so.

Thanks for catching that. I’m still going to call him an elected Democrat, because even though he didn’t win a party primary, I’m pretty sure that’s what he is. I’ll take it any way I can get it.

I think BW at The Flyer came up with the same type of thought (not long ago), but didn’t get the credit.

Where did all these tires come from?

My hunch is that since most used tire shops charge a disposal fee, a whole bunch of people decided to just leave their extras wherever.
